Today is not the unofficial start a summer, or a reason for a long weekend trip or a time for a sale at stores and car dealerships. Memorial Day was started to lay flowers on the graves of Union soldiers. In 1971 Congress declared Memorial Day a national holiday. Please take time today to remember those who sacrificed everything. We are land of the free because of the brave.
