Illinois Congressman Mike Bost (R) who is the Chairman of the House Veterans Committee is upset about a political cartoon and t-shirt of the cartoon created by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The cartoon shows men in suits addressed as the media and bureaucracy as part of a firing squad with to GI’s on the firing line. The VFW is upset over changes to future benefits for sleep apnea and tetanus.
First off, no one from the VFW or any veterans group is going to take up arms and shoot anyone over a political cartoon. Secondly there are a million other things Congressman Bost needs to look at including:
–70,000 claims yet to be processed for VA benefits
–Less than adequate care at VA hospitals
–Veterans still sleeping in the streets while illegal aliens get cradle to grave care
-Why isn’t there exemptions for veterans in federal law enforcement positions (FBI, USMS, USSS, Capitol Police) concerning the age requirement? Veterans over 37 are in much better physical condition than most civilians in their 20’s. These men and women are already proficient with firearms, already have military discipline and some already have secret clearances!
Unfortunately, the t-shirts are not available for sale to the general public yet.
