The Democrats are claiming the remark was racial as “cotton picking hands” refers to slaves and sharecroppers! And Representative Kiggins allegedly agreed to what Herrera said. We don’t know if Democrats are this dumb or they are really, really reaching. Herrera is not in any way trying to implicate that Jefferies is a sharecropper nor is Herrera advocating for slavery. He’s the House Minority Leader in the US House of Representatives representing the 8th District in Brooklyn, NY. Last we checked New York was a free state and slavery ended over 160 years ago! If anything its safe to say that Herrera learned the term “cotton pickin’” the same way all of us learned it: from Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam! It’s safe to say “cotton pickin” is a substitute for the F-word!
So if “cotton pickin hands” is forbidden lexicon, is the movie “Cotton comes to Harlem” banned?
