Well, the Greyhound of the airline industry Spirit Airlines has shut down suddenly leaving some passengers stranded. People who worked for Spirit could have been earning a paycheck if the Biden Administration and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) didn’t block the merger.
But the bigger news is that the media is talking about the end of Spirit Airlines as if Spirit was an institution like Toys “R” Us Radio Shack or Blockbuster video. Look at all the other airlines that folded or merged: Pan Am, TWA, Eastern, Western, Piedmont just to name a few! Spirit Airlines was not CBGB’s, the Fillmore or Tavern on the Green. It was an airline that offered low fares and the low fares didn’t raise enough revenue for operation costs.
