A Man Should be Able to Buy the Car he Built

“There’s nothing wrong with workers being able to afford the simple pleasures of life.”

The following article originally appeared in the Michigan Enjoyer. It has been reposted with permission by Charlie LeDuff.

When I was a cub reporter at The New York Times, I was talking with an editor about a strike at an auto-parts plant in Flint. There was some story in the paper that day about workers who were spending their idle time antique shopping and speeding around the lakes in their powerboats.

I complained to the editor.

“Since when is it bad to have a boat and make good money?” I asked.

The editor, a smart guy with a weak chin and wire-rimmed glasses, put his palm to his nose and said: “Those people had about this much foresight. They should have seen the writing on the wall and gone to college.”

That’s what he said.

But if we were all poets, we’d starve on words.

That was more than 25 years ago, just as NAFTA began to kick in, and I can’t help remembering it now as Labor Day approaches.

Look around. That plant in Flint is long-gone, for one. A casualty of the global thirst for profits. And with the factories gone, legions of First-World workers in America have become a generation of second-hand shoppers as Third-World workers have flowed in.

As the work in America has changed, so too has the definition of work itself. Being a white-collar worker now means you have a bachelor’s degree, even if you work in a coffee shop rather than an office with a desk and a chair and a mug.

The definition of blue collar now means that you don’t have a college degree, even if you sit at home typing in your underpants while drinking cappuccinos.

Notice today how the chattering class of cable TV refers to people as the “working-class” rather than “middle class”?

I don’t know if Trump’s tariffs will bring the good work back home to America. But it’s worth trying. The UAW thinks so. The Teamsters think so. Without the unions there would be no Labor Day. No great American Middle Class. No shack on the water. Championing those used to be a Democratic Party thing.

The so-called experts—those who have never physically labored I might add—are ginning up anxiety over the rising prices of automobiles should the tariffs fully go into effect. It may happen.

But the Manhattan editors never speak about the price of labor, the cost to a person who has married his life to a machine but is unable to afford the product he’s built.

A person should earn a good wage. A house and a car. A shack and a boat. We used to have that here in Michigan, and our companies still made profits. Now the companies make more profit somewhere else, while our shacks on the water have been repossessed.

We want it back. Words won’t get us that. Only work will get us that. Work for a fair wage.

Mayor Trump!?

“If you spit, we will hit.”

Monday Donald Trump held a press conference where the federal government will take over control of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (MPD). Trump is also putting federal cops and the National Guard in the streets. President Trump is sick and tired of DC being a crime ridden hell hole, and he’s stepping in and cleaning up the mess! As a District of Columbia crime victim, this is music to my ears.

Thanksgiving last year I got my car stolen. I also got 14 speed camera tickets where I had to go online 14 times and tell the DC government that my car was stolen. God forbid that MPD would have a License Plate Reader (LPR) to track stolen cars!

Overall I think MPD is a horrible organization. You have fat cops with beards and man buns on patrol in uniform! One time I had to go to a DC police station to report an accident. The fat cop behind the desk couldn’t give a shit and asked why I didn’t call 911? I ended up going online and completing the report myself. Mayor Bowser hired a DEI chief and the city council has done everything short of disbanding the MPD.

Then there’s the tents. Downtown DC looks like a campground with all the tents I see. Add to the fact that there’s a panhandler at every intersection.

The main cause of this mess is Mayor Muriel Bowser. As the District continues to fall apart, she has a gigantic Black Lives Matter sign painted on 16th St NW and bike lanes created causing the number of lanes for automobiles to decrease.

I’m not in favor of federal takeover of anything, but I’m on board this time to Make DC safe again!

The tragedy that keeps on giving!

Last night Mike and I were talking about the Epstein case and how the government is telling us that there’s nothing else to the Epstein case. Then it hit us: the federal government knew that Epstein was an intelligence asset. Either CIA, MI6, or Mossad. And they had to know what he was doing as an intelligence asset. So……..the government is criminally liable in this! We thought about it and researched it! Here are the crimes Uncle Sam might have committed with Epstein!

18 US Code Chapter 2(a) 4.1 Aiding and abetting

A defendant may be found guilty of [specify crime charged], even if the defendant personally did not commit the act or acts constituting the crime but aided and abetted in its commission.  To “aid and abet” means intentionally to help someone else commit a crime.

18 US Code Chapter 73, Part I: Obstruction of Justice

Here you have a laundry list of sections to choose from!

  1. § 1504. Influencing juror by writing
  2. § 1505. Obstruction of proceedings before departments, agencies, and committees
  3. § 1506. Theft or alteration of record or process; false bail
  4. § 1507. Picketing or parading
  5. § 1508. Recording, listening to, or observing proceedings of grand or petit juries while deliberating or voting
  6. § 1509. Obstruction of court orders
  7. § 1510. Obstruction of criminal investigations
  8. § 1511. Obstruction of State or local law enforcement
  9. § 1512. Tampering with a witness, victim, or an informant
  10. § 1513. Retaliating against a witness, victim, or an informant
  11. § 1514. Civil action to restrain harassment of a victim or witness
  12. § 1514A. Civil action to protect against retaliation in fraud cases
  13. § 1515. Definitions for certain provisions; general provision
  14. § 1516. Obstruction of Federal audit
  15. § 1517. Obstructing examination of financial institution
  16. § 1518. Obstruction of criminal investigations of health care offenses
  17. § 1519. Destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in Federal investigations and bankruptcy

Not all of these fit but many of them do! We are all sick and tired of these James Bond villains getting with horrible crimes meanwhile when we speak about this or the street crime tearing our neighborhoods up, were the bad guy! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!?

The Army at 250!

By: Scoop Stanton

June 14th is a special day in the US. Flag Day, President Trump’s birthday and the birthday of the US Army. President Trump wanted to celebrate the US Army ‘s 250th birthday in style, so he ordered a parade in Washington, DC. The parade was approximately $40 million. The taxpayer in me said have a group of troops from Fort Belvior march down Constitution Ave and call it a day.

But; the Army went all out. There was a display of Army toys; tanks, weapons, APV’s, and helicopters as well as an Army medical unit.

To get in the display area and the parade area you had to go through two separate screening entrances!

The lines were Disney World long! Luckily I was with my friend fashion designer extraordinaire Andre Soriano and his friend Lisa. The people were well mannered and patient. Some Jesus freak was polluting our ears with a bullhorn about sin! We get through screening and saw many things that the Army has to ruin your day!

The parade was going to kick off early due to weather conditions. So we had to go through more screening!

The parade viewing area was packed with thousands of people! Many wearing Trump gear. After screening to get in, we had to cross a bridge that went over 14th Street that was too small for the thousands of people there. We got to the area near the Washington Mounument and there wasn’t a good vantage point to watch the parade.

Luckily there were screens and speakers so we can see the reviewing stand where we could see POTUS, SECDEF and UFC owner Dana White, who was a sponsor.

And of course since I had a windbreaker, wearing long pants and waterproof boots, we would not get rained on despite the weather forecast. I took this picture and posted it on social media with the caption: “Even God loves the US Army!”

We saw as much as we could and the parade was over. Trump gave the oath of enlistment and thousands of parade goers were waiting to cross the foot bridge. Think of Golden Gate Bridge traffic attempting to cross a two lane bridge! Luckily the barriers were removed and people could exit. Andre, Lisa and myself walked back to the Metro heading back home. I still had to do 75 Radio!

Despite all the weapons and tools the American soldier uses today, the backbone of the US Army is still the American soldier. Today’s soldier comes from a long line of the greatest warriors who ever walked the face of the earth. Some of these heroes include: Washington, Robert E. Lee, Alvin York, Teddy Roosevelt, Audie Murphy, Jack Pershing and George Patton.

Special thanks go to those who made it work. Those people include: the TSA, US Secret Service Uniform Division, HSI, Metropolitan Police Department and of course the American soldier.

No more tax money for bias!

Donald Trump signed another Executive Order prohibiting tax money going for National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System. As someone in the business and a taxpayer: thank God!

Both organizations are not subject to ratings, finding sponsors or providing content people want to enjoy. Both organizations are very left of center.

Show us anywhere in the US Constitution where it says the state has to provide any entertainment!? We’ll wait. But like most government programs, NPR and PBS has outlived its usefulness decades ago. We went from three channels to numerous channels on broadcast television alone. With cable television we have literally hundreds of channels. And with smart tv and streaming services, we literally have thousands of channels to choose from. I have a Amazon fire stick and I still don’t have know the exact number of channels I have to watch!

As for radio, we have live streaming all over the country. Sunday Scoop listens to WABC in New York through his television! Most of our listeners come from our livestream, not from our affiliates! And those who miss the show can listen free of charge on YouTube and podcasting services!

As for content, all liberal content. I remember living overseas and in the middle of the day there was an hour of NPR on American Forces Network (AFN). The most liberal garbage I ever heard. And USAA underwritten that hour! And critics say that’s the end of Sesame Street. Well, Sesame Street went to HBO! And that was liberal propaganda! You might as well call Democracy Now Daily Worker tv!

And PBS was very slick in terms of fundraising! They would broadcast programming that people would want to watch in the middle of a fundraising drive. Every time there was a concert some music special. They would have a boatload of interruptions for fundraising!  So dummies would give some money for more rock concerts and the next week; boring crap!

Here’s a clip from WTTG, Fox 5 DC about the defunding of NPR and PBS! No bias here!
