This is Assist Chief Aaron Andrews of tne NYPD. Saturday Andrews and Sergeant Luis Navarro chased two people who were throwing IED’s on a Manhattan street! If this was 1970, this picture would be on the cover of Life Magazine.
This is the exact type of “boss” the NYPD needs. Chief Andrews wasn’t barking orders to have other cops to go after the bombers. Andrews and Navarro are the types of MoS are police officers with a rank. Not just a “police chief” or “sergeant.” It’s safe to say that when the rank and file saw Andrews and Navarro go after the mopes, they went full speed ahead, as it’s a pride thing. Most cops don’t want be shown up by a boss, even though the boss wants to get bad guys off the street.
This is a breath of fresh air for the three of us. We all had to deal with bad supervisors during our time “on the job.” Walter was berated by a Sergeant about his handlebar moustache. As Walter was getting the business, he was able to smell the gin on his supervisor’s breath! Then there was Chief of Department Terrance Monahan. In 2020 Monahan took a knee with the same protesters that were destroying the city and fighting with his cops.
