Broken Windows was a theory developed by James Wilson and George Kettering that stated if an area had vacant buildings with broken windows, the neighborhood doesn’t take pride in themselves and criminal activity is prevalent. Rudy Giuliani touted this theory for his crackdown on crime. And it worked!
The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most iconic bridges in the entire world. Built in 1883, it is still in use today carrying millions of pedestrians and cars between Manhattan and Brooklyn yearly. It’s has been featured in countless movies, television shows and the Rolling Stones did a press conference at the bridge!
But now Broken Windows is on full display on the Brooklyn Bridge. People have been putting various items on the fencing in the pedestrian path! Some items on display include condoms and tampons! (At least there is no dog poop, yet!) Since one joker wants to put trash on the fence, now everyone will put trash on the fence. The New York Post blames tourists, but what we saw recently with the dog poop, our money is on Gotham residents! Do better New York!
