Donald Trump wants reciprocal tariffs meaning if one nation ie Costa Rica charges 20% tariffs on American made goods then the US will charge 20% on goods made form Costa Rica. The starting point is 10% tariffs on all imported goods. This is to promote a US manufacturing base which a nation needs for national security reasons. If we go to war with China or Russia and we need to build ships and tanks, guess where all the steel comes from!? When were building planes, ships and weapons guess where the chips are being built. When we need oil for our tanks, ships and planes, lets hope the Middle East doesn’t pick sides as Biden killed our progress towards energy independence.
Besides national security reasons, Trump wants America to look like Detroit. Detroit in the 1950’s not like the one Charlie LeDuff lives in today.
This nation is faltering on collapse as we have more and more government employees than factory workers. Most of these “media influencers” are high tech panhandlers. What nation is able to survive with no manufacturing, no agriculture and no energy? If tariffs are so awful then why does every nation have them on our products!? Try buying a Ford F-150 anywhere outside North America.
This nation can’t survive on 50% of the nation serving the other 50%.
