It’s the “Holiday Season.” Where we spend three months preparing for December 25th where everything is over by Christmas dinner. We are starting to see Christmas items before Halloween. And everything Christmas on November 1st. But what happened to Thanksgiving? To me, Thanksgiving is just as important as Christmas, without all the hoopla! Family getting together sitting around the dinner table reliving family memories. Through the years I haven’t had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving with my family. It was usually work, then the distance from DC to upstate New York. But; I did get to spend a number of Thanksgivings with my kids, and I plan to see my parents and siblings this year.
I’m all for making a buck. People spend an ungodly amount of money on presents, wrapping paper, food, decorations, booze, and now ugly Christmas sweaters. On purpose! Thanksgiving; not so much. That’s why Madison Avenue and Walmart pushes Christmas for three months and only give Thanksgiving an honorable mention.
This year I have a lot to be thankful for! My parents are still with us, even though mom is touch and go. My kids are healthy, happy and doing well in school. 75 Radio is getting bigger and better. And I’m starting to have a social life! I want to thank God, for everything, mom and dad and the rest of the Stanton clan, Walter, Heather, Danila, James, Sam, Sean, Jim, Ed Huebner, Charlie LeDuff and all of you!
