Over the years, I have been tasked with providing a top 10 list for The Policial Cesspool. In the early years it was relatively easy as we have but so many events. Then it became too cumbersome as we did things and saw things! So I decided to do a recap of our most memorable events. Then that list became too long. So this year, I wanted to talk about the people who impacted the Political Cesspool one way or another. I always call ourselves family because we are. Off air we do fight like brothers, but that’s what we do!
Of course there’s James Edwards and Austin Farley. These two men we owe a debt of gratitude. They are the reason we are all here! Austin went to run for public office and take care of his large family. James was left to navigate the ship through rough waters. James has been threatened, investigated, slandered, and been called everything but a child of God. This is for a little radio show on Saturday night by a dude on his laptop! And he still stands tall!
Eddie “the Bombardier” Miller came along! Eddie pulls no punches and the running joke is that he gets tossed out of the best political rallies! One of the most emotional shows was Eddie and James being denounced by a congressional committee. Listening to it; you thought these two tough as nails men were tearing up. As if the listeners weren’t given some of the hardest hitting radio already; Sean Bergin closed the show. It was like a Rolling Stones concert in 1969 followed by Led Zeppelin!
Winston Smith also came into the picture with is vast vocabulary and his knowledge of Kinism. Winston eventually moved on to support his family in another state.
Chief Art Frith came aboard to give some professionalism to the broadcast, so the Political Cesspool didn’t sound like like the radio version of “Hee Haw.” Chief Frith made it cool to clown Mr. Edwards! One of the best shows was the farewell show for Art. It was Austin, Jess Bonds and Chief Frith. It was one of the funniest GD shows ever!
During the early days, James had the most unique line up for a Saturday night. It was our hero Patrick J. Buchanan! Followed by actor and patriot Sonny Landham live from his hospital bed under some heavy medication! It was an interview for the ages! Then closing; me! It was Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones and then Tiny Tim!
James took the Cesspool into syndication. By the grace of God we ended up with Sam Bushman! Sam owns Liberty News Radio. Sam is one of the smartest people we know! A few years ago Sam had a celebration for 25 years on the radio. I was invited and as usual I didn’t have enough money to leave DC and James read a speech I wrote for Sam! Sam also hosts his own show. One thing about Sam, when he is on the air, you better know your stuff as he knows your topic better than you do!
2014 was a banner year for the Cesspool! We were ten years in! Retired Bridgeport, CT Police Officer Jim Lancia contacted James because he wrote a book he wanted to promote. Mr. Edwards wanted me to feel him out. In two seconds I knew Jim was good to go. Jim came on and killed numerous times. James and I knew we had to have him on! And he’s still with us!
In another part of the Northeast, News 12 reporter Sean Bergin went on a limb and spoke the truth. Of course, he was fired! I reached out to him on Facebook and he replied! I was shocked because I imagine he was being bombarded with interview requests from mainstream media and had offers from Fox. He didn’t! Well Sean answered my message! We got talking on the phone and I introduce myself as Peter Stanton. Sean asks me who is “Scoop” Stanton. I explained that it’s me and my nickname! I then told him there enough of me to fill both roles! Sean and I did a road trip to Geno’s Steaks on 9th St in Philadelphia. Geno’s founder Joey Vento was a guest on the Cesspool! Sean said that during show prep, Sean was frantically doing research while I was stuffing my face with a sandwich! He wasn’t lying. Sean also said that across the street were some street musicians playing. Sean said he was going to have me give the street musicians $20 to stop playing! In December 2014, Sean told me and James of Officers Wenjien Liiu and Rafael Ramos being executed in a police cruiser in Brooklyn. Sean knew this was the start of the “War on Cop” and this would make national news. Unfortunately he was right. I made it a point to read ff the names of murdered cops every week on my show 9 years later! More about Sean in a moment.
In April, 2014, we snagged Pulitzer Prize winning reporter who was also a best selling author and a national personality on Fox Television. We got Charlie LeDuff! His interview was off the chain. Charlie is a friend of 75 Radio as he comes on after a few “pops” wreaking havoc for me and Walter! I look at him and Walter as my older brothers! He is an extended member of the family.
On August 2, 2014 the Political Cesspool interviewed radio legend Anthony Cumia. Cumia was recently fired from Sirius XM and was starting his own platform for a subscription based podcast network. This turned to be the best interview of both Cumia and James Edwards! During the interview Cumia told James that he wanted to hang out and drink some beers. Afterward I called Keith Mascera, Cumia’s executive producer. Cumia had a great time and we looked forward for cross promotions! Sean Bergin was booked on Cumia’s show! Then all hell broke loose! And that was the end of that. I reached out to Compound Media numerous times with no response despite Cumia following me for a short time until he got suspended!
In 2016, Sam Bushman and James Edwards interviewed Donald Trump Jr. on Sam’s show. And the usual accusations came out and Jr backpedaled. Sam came out and listed in precise detail what happened before and after. Sam was pissed. I texted James if we were fighting with the Trumps! We have been beefing with everyone from all sides, I was ready to stand with our ragtag scattered bunch of misfits against a billionaire family with an empire in New York City. On election night, we did a 5 hour commercial free show called the Political Roundtable. It was Sam, James, Eddie, Sean, Jim Lancia, me and other guests! This was a proud moment for me as the entire family was together! Mr. Edwards was able to get tickets to the inauguration. Sam and Sean came down to Baltimore with James for the inauguration. Of course I couldn’t make it! James knows genius when he sees it. He told Sam and Sean to have at it and to run the show! They took off with more thrust than a 747!
This wasn’t the first time James turned over the reins. When some PoS shot up the Pulse Nightclub, the Cesspool was the only media outlet to denounce the killer and mourn the fallen. Despite our differences with the gay community, they did have the right to be free. These victims were among themselves enjoying themselves, harming nobody! Jim and Sean broke it down to a science. James listened with bated breath and simply did the lead in and lead outs!
After Charlottsville I thought the Cesspool needed more time for things such as Charlottesville, Ferguson, New York and other things that happen on Saturdays. My work schedule prevented me from coming on the Cesspool. I wanted to expand the Cesspool. I spoke to Jim Lancia about it and he was in. I went to James and Sam for their advice and blessing and The Political Cesspool’s first spinoff show was born! What radio show has spinoffs!?
In 2017, I came across the documentary movie The Seven Five. I knew of the scandal concerning Michael Dowd, but I didn’t know the rest of the story. I reached out to Michael Dowd and Walter Yurkiw on Twitter. Yurkiw gave me his number. We talked for 90 minutes. Most of it about my issues! I wanted to book Walter on the Cesspool asap! Saturday rolls around and I bug the hell out of Mr. Edwards to watch the Seven Five. James was like “yeah yeah, I’ll see it when I see it. 4 hours before showtime, James tested me. How soon can we book him!? James had that “oh snap” moment like myself and Charlie LeDuff had! Walter was available that night. And he killed it! Like Sean and Jim, I wanted to keep Walter around. In 2018, Jim didn’t want to do Red 42 anymore so I asked Walter. I said I didn’t want to just talk about the movie or his time with the NYPD. Walter said that’s exactly what he wanted and 5 ½ years later, were still together despite never meeting each other face to face! And we have a major announcement tonight about the family.
Unfortunately this story does not have a happy ending. We lost our brother Bill Rolen. Bill was a major part of the show up until he was called home to the Lord. Bill refused to let cancer keep him down. The last time I was with Bill on the Cesspool me, Bill and James were talking about making beer runs. Bill showed no signs of sickness. On the memorial show, we were all welling up with tears. Sam Bushman put all of us at ease with four words. “Bill is with Christ.”
Since then we had Jack Antonio, Jack Ryan and former US Representative Steven King on the show often. Yeah, the Cesspool has that much influence!
Here’s where the Cesspool shines. In 2015 with the Dylan Roof crime, the heat was on James Edwards because Roof cited the Council of Conservative Citizens at which time Edwards was a member of the board. The leftists mob wanted James Edwards hanging from a crane, even though the Cesspool called for a quick execution of Roof! Except me. I wanted Roof placed in general population to talk about race relations with his fellow inmates. Despite the threats on James, he was concerned for Sean Bergin’s career prospects.. I spoke to Sean and told him it was ok if he wanted to lay low as we didn’t want him to ruin any job opportunities. Bergin replied: “Well if they want a fight, this Irishman says bring it on motherfucker!” You can’t make this up!
Our greatest story with the Political Cesspool actually took place on another platform. Sean Bergin had the opportunity to host a show on WLINY.com. Usually when one personality goes somewhere , there’s animosity. But; this was different. Sean was not leaving us. He was going to do something on one of the other days of the week and we couldn’t be more happier! Our message was going on another platform! One of US was getting the word out! We were shouting it from the rooftops! Liberty Roundtable, The Political Cesspool and Red 42 were promoting the hell out of it! We were promoting Seans’ show more than our own! And some of Sean’s guests included: Sam Bushman, Jim Lanica and James Edwards. James was introduced as “My friend James Edwards.” Sean said he was getting correspondence as far away as California! He asked me of the Cesspool had that much reach. Of course it does! Sean gave up that gig because they did not have the dedication that we do here. Unfortunately, Sean has been working Saturday nights so he hasn’t been on. But; he is still part of the family.
I’ll say just one more thing about the Political Cesspool; it has lasted longer than most of our marriages! Including mine!
