Time just flies. Five years ago, Jim Lancia didn’t want to do Red 42 anymore and I still wanted to stay in radio so I asked Walter to step in. Walter was already a guest on the Cesspool, and a fill in host on Red 42, so it was an obvious choice to start a show with him. Walter was already a pseudo celebrity from “The Seven Five.” I told Walter I did not want to do a show only on his adventures in East New York, or talk about the movie. I would only want to talk about his time in the NYPD if we come across a story that can relate to his time in the 7-5. He said that’s exactly what he wanted. He didn’t want to live in the past. And we were off!
Over the years we had to deal with technical issues, scheduling issues, and an angry wife among some issues. During COVID we started doing the show live on Saturday while I was on the telephone. During one show, studio central in Utah went down; hard. Me Walter, and Mike Garren didn’t know if we were on air or not. We kept talking. Eventually we found out our feed was cut, but the three of us actually kept talking past the top of the hour. I even signed us off! I was proud of this moment. Mike Garren then said that we had the same amount of listeners as we would on the air!
Over these short five years we were at a truck protest, at race tracks, outside the Supreme Court, in CPAC and outside CPAC looking in! I even held a “Refugee Roundup at a local bar when Joe Biden was bringing in Afghan Refugees and some of them came up missing! We practiced social distancing years before COVID came around as I’m in DC and Walter is in Tennessee! We still have not met face to face. We will in October 2024! I was at GOP headquarters and DNC headquarters on election night for “The Political Roundtable.” Where all of Liberty News Radio’s syndicated shows and personalities came on for a 6 hour live feed! Me, Mike and Walter got 30 minutes live commercial free! And we put the pedal to the metal!
Our staff has grown over the years. Walter told me that he has a fan that wants to help him out. He’s a big fan of The Seven Five and a pain in the ass! That man is our not so sexy intern and 75 Radio Marketing Director, Mike Garren! More about Mike in a minute.
Our guest list is something eclectic. We had retired NYPD officer Ann Ubelis the radio Chick A Dee, who is the host of Sothern Sense Talk Radio, retired Police Officer Joe Johnson, World Series Champion Lenny Dykstra, and legendary conservative pundit Cal Thomas who told me to get my kids out of public schools. We had JB Gunner, Patrick Ryan and Lonnell “Blaq Rosebudd” Harris who hosted 75 Radio! We also had Gary Byrne on. Gary wrote the book on his exploits with Bill and Hillary. Since there wasn’t enough room for two former members of the Secret Service and a tranny, Fox News kicked poor Gary to the curb!
We still were growing! As you all know New York is the home state of myself and Mr. Yurkiw. I plan to retire to my parents home since I simply have no options! In 2021 I saw that the New York Governor’s race heating up, and Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew is running in the Republican primary. So I contacted his office, and his campaign agreed! Poor bastard! Giuliani came on and I had Sean Bergin host due to everyone’s schedule conflict and he killed it! Then in January, 2022 two heroes from the New York City Police Department were shot and killed. I wanted to do a roundtable with me, Walter (both former NYC MoS) Sean Bergin, and Giuliani. Mind you Giuliani was running for governor, and didn’t know us. He had no clue what was the format. I told Giuliani on air it was a round robin show as all of us were familiar with officers being killed and New York going to hell! Andrew was all in! It was an awesome show. But I wish we didn’t do it. I followed Political Cesspool tradition and wanted to bring Giuliani on as a member of the family! I eventually decided to make Giuliani a guest host. And he was fine with it! Andrew did co-host last February and he absolutely knocked it out of the park. The last segment, he said he wanted to bring on a special guest. This was news to me, and I figured it was something that James Edwards did like when he brought his wife and daughter on. Well, Andrew threw me a screwball. He brought on New York City’s 107th Mayor; a man he simply refers to as dad; none other than Rudy Giuliani. And now Andrew is on the legendary 77 WABC!
Now; back to Mikey Garren. We were all lawmen at one time or another and Mike was with a rescue squad out in Eastern Tennessee. Mike’s other passion beside food is auto racing. I gave Mike Carte Blanche to do whatever he wants to do in racing as long as it doesn’t cost me any money! And Mike delivered. We became an official sponsor for the Topless Outlaw Racing Series! We were the official radio show for the I-75 Speedway, and at one race, Walter even scratched a check for the #8 Jeff Jackson! My question is: who still uses a checkbook! 75 Radio sponsored Jeff this year. I gave enough for a gallon of gasoline! In return Jeff is going to use the entire undercarriage for 75 Radio! We had Topless Outlaw owner Mike Robinette on, and we went to the races where Walter and Mike were treated like rock stars! Our fans are Topless Outlaw fans. Patriots, Christian, family oriented, hardworking! Good job Mike!
The past couple of years were rough. Covid, family members passing, Both Walter and I got COVID. Work schedules and so forth! But there’s a silver lining! I am no longer married to the lady who never supported me in my career in radio. So I can do radio as well as some other things! I also was able to get a better schedule so I can do the show live from the “studio.”
As for the future, its already here! We did some great shows. Last week was one for the books. I was texting Walter who was busting my balls by calling me “dad.” Then I get a text from No Bullshit News host Charlie LeDuff thanking me for a birthday gift I sent him. I texted that he was part of the family and has a seat at our table and can call in anytime. He wanted the hotline number. I gave it to him and he started to insult me via text! I texted Walt plans changed, LeDuff is coming on we’ll have to wing it. With Charlie, you don’t know where the show is going! Whatever you have planned……..toss it! And it went there! After the show, I called Charlie and he wanted Walter on the phone. So 75 radio went another 30 minutes via Verizon wireless! That conversation is coning to the grave with us! I swear on the life of my children that the best stuff is off air! We are also changing the line up a bit. We are bringing in a person who’s been with us for a couple of years, but will appear on the show for the first time!
Once again, I need to take this time to thank everyone that make this show what it is! First the dynamic duo Liz and Jay that make our show sound so great. They do so much working with so little! Also thank you to Sam Bushman for all his help, and to James Edwards for his support and off the wall bumpers. Thank you to Mike Garren for all your help and most importantly thank you to Walter Yurkiw. This show is therapy for me. Our private conversations are therapy. God put off of us together for a reason!
Most of all we want to thank you the fans! We are all in it together! We are all two steps in front of the bill collector. We got kids we don’t see enough and grandkids we see even less. We’re fighting the culture war with nobody coming to help. Our jails are empty and border is open. And the cops refuse to help because they don’t’ want to go to jail or have hoodlums outside their house! We will continue to give you everything we have every week for free! Why? Because is our ammunition for the info war!
