The Political Cesspool is celebrating 18 years on air which is longer than my marriage. I am happy to say that I have been and still a part of the Cesspool for most of the time its been on air! Like everything else we had some ups and downs and some “what the hell!?” scenario’s. Now; I say that I believe everything and nothing at the same time. I used to have a top 10 list but with everything that’s happened, its too much and too hard to decide. But you got two guys in a bean field in Millington, Tennessee talking on a religious station about Frankie Valli and Confederate Pride to being involved in a presidential election with everything in between. We had snakes in a control panel, James getting speeding tickets, guests calling in about penguins, Confederate History Month, race relations, the Brown decision, doo wop musicians, radio legends, actors, crime and punishment, old school cops, news reporters making news, and drunk Pulitzer Prize winners!
We went places. We started at the bean field, to the best Karaoke bars in Shelby County to political rallies, to CPAC to the Republican Convention to a presidential inauguration! Eddie Miller got ejected at some of the best places this nation has! James even went on CNN before they went totally insane! We were also in Canada, Europe, China and Australia! We also had a guest report live from his hospital bed!
The Political Cesspool is able to travel through time as we reported on news events before they happened. Not predict, report! We reported the war on cops when two of New York’s Finest were gunned down by a Black Lives Matter supporter. We were there and said that there was a war on cops! We were in Ferguson before the media poured gasoline on the city. We reported the George Zimmerman verdict live! We were at Charlottesville, VA before Gov. McCauliffe turned it into a poop show! There are too many other examples to recall.
This show has grown more ways than one. Over a decade ago, we landed with Liberty News Radio with Sam Bushman. This was one of the best decisions James has ever made. The Political Cesspool has grown in listener size. The Cesspool has given birth to two spinoff radio shows! Blood River Radio and 75 Radio. 75 Radio was the reincarnation from Red 42. So Saturday you have Liberty Roundtable, Blood River Radio, The Political Cesspool, then 75 Radio! All live! Then our brood kept getting bigger. It was James and Austin Farley, then Art Frith came in and cracked the whip, then Jess Bonds, Geoff Melton, Eddie “The Bombardier” Miller, then me. Some of us came and went. Then we joined Sam Bushman’s family. Then came Sean Bergin. We had him on as a guest numerous times, then James and I wanted to make him a part of our family. And the poor bastard said yes! Then we had Jim Lancia on; James and I said why not! Then I bring Walter Yurkiw from The Seven Five Documentary. He comes on a couple of times, then I ask him to come on Red 42 then be part of the new Red 42 as Jim Lancia wanted to go to bed early! We also got married and had kids and some more kids. And some of our kids had kids!
As much as our family grew we also had to say goodbye to our brother Bill Rolen who was called home to the Lord in 2013. It was one of our saddest shows. We were ALL teary eyed and Sam Bushman came on and put us at ease when he said: “Bill is with Christ.”
The best part about The Political Cesspool is not the great radio, the great guests, the banter or subject matter. It’s the family. I call the Political Cesspool a family because we treat each other like family. Back in 2015, when we were lumped in with Dylan Roof, James and I told Sean that we thought he should lay low as we didn’t want him to lose any job opportunities. Sean said “if they want a fight, this Irishman says bring it on; motherfucker!” When Sam Bushman was celebrating his 25 years of fighting the left, he invited us to join him to celebrate. Since the DC Metro didn’t to past Virginia, I stayed home. But; at an event like this, I wanted to pay my respects to our brother Sam Bushman! I typed up a speech and emailed it to James Edwards. And James read it! It was a very long speech, but since he edited out all the curse words, it became a one page speech! Our “Lord of the Board” Art Frith was in a photography contest where people could go online to vote for the best picture. Art could have a typical picture of Bigfoot and we would vote for it. So one particular Saturday, the Cesspool family were all voting for Chief Frith’s picture. As soon as Art’s picture was ahead, the other picture would eek ahead. James did some IT research and called bullshit as things weren’t on the up and up. Then we turned ugly. We called bullshit, cited proof and the other photographer said she had no clue. We turned up the heat with the insults. Chief Frith ordered us to cease and desist. We did.
I told James Edwards that I wanted to branch off from the Cesspool. I wasn’t leaving the Cesspool, but with my new work schedule and restricted use of a phone I would not be able to provide my two cents. Plus with Charlottesville, Lord knows when we could have used another hour. I asked James and Sam for their advice and their blessing. I wanted to do a fourth hour of TPC. Sam Bushman put together some of the best bumpers anywhere! James lent his voice to the voice overs. These voiceovers are nothing you ever heard. On Red 42 you hear “Here’s two Southern boys from Metropolitan New York City,” On 75 Radio James introduces me with: “And Peter “Scoop” Stanton who starred in……..To Catch a Predator.” Edwards says this in disgust! In terms of my place on The Political Cesspool, one night James and I were texting back and forth about something and I texted: I am the Washington Correspondent for the Political Cesspool. His reply was two words: Damn Straight! I can’t thank James Enough for all he has done for me in terms of making my dream of hosting a radio talk show a reality!
Here’s is the best part of The Political Cesspool. About 5 or six years ago Sean Bergin had the opportunity to host an internet show on Thursday Night. It was like Thursday Night football for Liberty News Radio! Instead of thanking Sean for his service to the Cesspool and wishing him good luck on his future endeavors, we promoted the ever living shit out of that show! On all our shows: Liberty Roundtable, Red 42 and the Cesspool! And guess who Sean had on as guests? Sam, Jim Lancia and James Edwards! And that podcast on Long Island got emails as far away as California!
Now; here’s the story that went on from Arizona to Washington, DC. Pinal County AZ Sheriff Paul Babeau came in contact with The Cesspool and talked to Eddie about an appearance. Both Eddie and the Sheriff corresponded back and forth, as Eddie said we get no good publicity. Babeau was still in! The show goes on and Babeau was a hit and invited Eddie Pinal County for a ride along! A short time later some fish wrap in Arizona reports on the appearance and smears us and Babeau. The Sheriff denies everything, blames his PIO, and throws us under the bus. Now here’s where it gets interesting. It turns out Paulie is gay. And one of his lovers was an illegal alien! It gets better: Babeau was also an administrator for a home for troubled boys in Massachusetts where many of the residents accuse Babeau of inappropriate behavior! Eventually the smoke cleared and we went our separate ways, right? Wrong!
Years later Babeau was on Capitol Hill testifying before Congress about immigration. The Committee was led by leftist radicals headed by Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). Rep. Jeffries brings up Sheriff Babeau’s appearance on the Political Cesspool! Eventually The Political Cesspool is condemned by a Congressional Committee! The next show was James and Eddie and it was a roller coaster of emotions. I was a mess after my appearance of one segment. So who is on the last segment: Sean Bergin!
Here’s to many more years of success of The Political Cesspool! On the behalf of the entire family, thank you for all your love and support. We couldn’t do this without you.
