In my short career with the NYPD , I was with the Transit Bureau. In 1995 Mayor Rudy Giuliani merged the Transit Police and Housing Authority Police into the NYPD because Transit cops won arbitration that was in their favor that was going to cost the city some major money. I worked with the cops who started with the Transit Police. They were a different breed. They were known as the “Black Patches” because the color of the patch on the sleeve and they didn’t take any shit! Listening to these transit veterans made me yearn for the old New York City Transit Police. Seeing what’s going on in our subways make me yearn for the old Transit Police.
Then the man who protected New York from behind a desk started his career as a Transit Cop in District 34 in Coney Island! Not only is Adams an embarrassment as mayor, he was an embarrassment as a MoS with the NYPD and even bigger embarrassment to the New York Transit Police. But Hizzonor is not done shitting on his police department. With subway crime through the roof, he wants straphangers to take pictures of cops on their phones! Way to fight crime, Batman!
