In 2019 the Petland pet store in Fairfax VA was shut down as the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) conducted an investigation concerning animal cruelty. In an undercover video. The local authorities were summoned and did a search and found 31 dead rabbits and a dead puppy in a freezer! The owners of the franchise Kareem and Ayman Koshok were charged with animal cruelty.
In 2020 Kareem Koshok pled guilty and was convicted of misdemeanor charges. Ayman had all charges dropped. Also in 2020, the Koshok’s planned to open a pet store in Chantilly, VA named “Woofy’s.” The owner of the pet grooming business “Woofie’s” sued for trademark infringement. The store never opened.
Now in 2021 there is a new pet store opened at 14398 Chantilly Crossing Lane, Chantilly, VA 20151 called XO Pups. And it’s owned by the Koshok Brothers! I contacted Fairfax County Tax Office to find out who in fact is the registered owner, but there is no listing for the business or a business at that address. But to be fair you do have 75 days to get registered with the county.
