Nowadays, you wonder why someone would want to be a Police Officer in an urban area. Low pay, hatred from city leaders, Monday morning quarterbacking from the media, Racial Pimps fanning the flames of anti police mentality, the “No Snitching” mentality in the ghetto, constant allegations of misconduct, and the constant threat of violence and even death! Add to the fact that law enforcement have much higher rates of divorce, broken homes, alcoholism, substance abuse, depression, and even suicide. (I personally knew 2 members of the law enforcement family that made the wrong decision.) Cops call suicide “eating your gun.” Then local jurisdictions pass laws decriminalizing certain offenses that affect “young men of color.” Or the prosecuting attorneys (DA, State Attorney, or Commonwealth Attorney) decides not to prosecute certain crimes (were looking at you Jussie Smollett) or the judge decides to let off a ten-time loser off with a warning! No wonder people are either not signing up or going for greener pastures.
The media, the mayor (it doesn’t matter what city you work in) and scumbags you deal with day in and day out hate you. You are underpaid and out gunned. You have some bosses who are politicians and not cops. Some unions do nothing when you need them the most. We would be lying to you if we said that things will get better, but we can’t guarantee that.
Well, Walter and I want to say thank you. Thank you for doing your job and staying “on the job.” The media personalities that really support and thank you include: Michael Savage, Charlie LeDuff, JB Gunner and the Hangmann Brothers. Also, the people that come and go without any interaction thank you. The business owners thank you, and the residents thank you as when they come home, all of their possessions are still there. Keep making a difference.
